RSJ

And just fleshing that out a bit...

Impromptu ride to christen the R1 which I picked up the day before. I arrived at RSJ's at Wilton to find Steve, RSJ, Quarryman, Mark and Cookie, along with a cup of coffee and a croisant. Took a mix of expressway and old highway to Mittagong where we managed to get diverted around three Anzac Day parades in three successive towns (Mittagong, Bowral, Moss Vale). Slow going, so we returned to the expressway at Berrima and punted onto Goulburn, apparently annoying the constabulary parked in the bushes after Marulan to the extent that he caught up with Quarryman and, in a fit of pique, gave him a ticket not for speeding but for having the rego holder obscuring the numberplate. Must have been the wind...

Caught up with Andrew in Goulburn and waited for Quarryman to front up with his tale of woe. And waited. Mark arrived and said he thought Qman had missed the Goulburn turnoff; sure enough, he arrived from the west after taking the second Goulburn turnoff. We took the old Hume Highway to Gunning which is traffic free but bumpy as hell. Slow and inferior lunch at the pub, where we were asked to clear out mid-meal so that the two-up circle could be prescribed. Fast run Dalton -- Jerrawa -- Dalton -- Gunning -- half way to Crookwell then into Goulburn. Andrew headed back to Canberra, and the rest of us returned to Jim's via Marulan, Bundanoon, Exeter, back road to Moss Vale then highway to Wilton.

Cookie's rear tyre, which was shagged through to the belt at lunchtime, was nursed back to Wilton, then to home at St Marys.
